DEKALB CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Police in Dekalb County say the wind was to blame for a crash on Monday.
Justin C. O’Reilly, 36, was traveling south on I-69 when a strong gust of wind blew his trailer which was unloaded, and caused him to strike a guard rail on the east side of the roadway.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 10 a.m. near the 338-mile marker.
His 2012 Peterbuilt spun around and struck the trailer and then came to a rest on the west side of the roadway blocking the driving lane of travel. O’Reilly complained of neck and shoulder pain and was transported by EMS to a local hospital.
Southbound traffic resumed following cleanup. The DeKalb Co. Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Waterloo Fire Dept., Auburn Fire Dept., Indiana State Police, Riverside Towing and Parkview EMS.
