INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is encouraging hunters to not use lead shots but won’t implement new restrictions.
Former Indiana Native Plant Society leader Nancy Tatum had petitioned the DNR to ban lead ammunition, but officials say they cannot legally do that.
Tatum’s research showed between 1.6 and 3.9 million birds died due to lead poisoning between 1938 and 1954.
