FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) says no one was hurt in a fire over the weekend. Crews responded to the Black Bear Creek Apartments around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. It was called in at a unit on the 5000 block of Madiera Drive in the complex off Reed Road.
Crews found smoke coming from the roof and a fire in the ceiling of an upstairs apartment.
The FWFD says three people self-evacuated the building. Nobody was injured.
The building has moderate fire, water, and smoke damage. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.

At approximately 1030 am, Fort Wayne firefighters were dispatched to the 5000 block of Madiera Drive for a structure fire at Black Bear Creek Apartments. Crews arrived on scene to find light smoke emitting from the roof eaves. Firefighters located a fire in an upstairs apartment and extinguished it. The fire was contained to that apartment causing moderate smoke and water damage. Residents in adjoining apartments were evacuated by firefighters as a precaution. No firefighters or civilians were injured. Fwfd was assisted by FWPD, TRAA, Neighborhood Code, and AEP.
