FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department rescued two dogs from a house fire Tuesday. The call came in around 1:15 p.m. and crews were sent to the 600 block of Walnut Street close to Fairfield.
According to the FWFD, firefighters put out the flames in about 10 minutes after quickly getting inside.
An adult and three children got out of the house on their own but two dogs were inside and firefighters were able to bring them to safety.
The home suffered moderate fire, smoke, and water damage.

Fort Wayne firefighters were called to the 600 block of Walnut Street for a kitchen fire. The first arriving unit found light smoke coming from the rear of the residence. Firefighters entered the home and extinguished the fire. One adult and three children escaped the home on their own. Two dogs were rescued by firefighters. Fort Wayne firefighters were assisted by FWPD, TRAA, Neighborhood Code Enforcement, AEP, NIPSCO, and the Red Cross.
