Fire on the northwest side damages home, five cars

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Fire Department officials say that five cars were destroyed after a fire on Tuesday afternoon.

FWFD officials say that a car in the garage of a home on the northwest side caught fire and leaked gas. The gas reportedly ran down the driveway at 11113 Cabriolet Run and caught the other cars on fire.

Fire crews arrived around 1:30 and were able to get control of the flames that had also damaged the house’s garage and attic. There was one person in the home at the time and they were able to get out safely.

FWFD officials released the following:
Ft Wayne firefighters were called to 11113 Cabriolet Run this afternoon to a reported house fire that started in a garage.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the 3 car garage fully involved with 2 cars inside and 3 more cars in the driveway that were also on fire. Crews worked to extinguish the fire and make sure that all occupants were out of the house.

All 5 cars were a total loss. The fire was contained to the garage and attic of the home. Foam was applied to assist in the firefighting efforts. FWFD was assisted by AEP, NIPSCO, TRAA, FWPD, Parkers Wrecker service and board up crews. No injuries were reported.
