Man that died in Fort Wayne store was stabbed

UPDATE (February 10, 2023):

The man found dead Tuesday in a southeast Fort Wayne convenience store has been identified and we now know he died after being stabbed.

The Allen County Coroner said Thursday that 52-year-old Tawfika Al-Malahi, of Fort Wayne, died of multiple stab wounds and his death was ruled as a homicide.

A juvenile was arrested and charged with a level one felony charge of murder.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:

The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin for the male victim that was found within the One Stop Store in the 1200 block of East Creighton Avenue, in Fort Wayne, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at approximately 16:53 hours. The decedent was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
The decedent has been positively identified as Tawfika Al-Malahi male, White, 52 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Cause of Death has been determined to be Multiple Stab Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Tawfika Al-Malahi is the 4th Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2023. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A juvenile has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in a convenience store in Fort Wayne this week. The suspect was taken into custody Wednesday without incident.

The victim was found Tuesday afternoon not breathing and without a pulse at the One Stop store on East Creighton Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

The juvenile, who is not being identified, is facing a level one felony charge of murder.

FWPD officials released the following:

On February 7th, 2023 at approximately 1653 hrs, the FWPD responded to 1232 E. Creighton Ave. regarding a man down inside the business. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The Fort Wayne Police Homicide Unit began an investigation and took a juvenile into custody on Wednesday (2/8/2023) without incident. The juvenile was charged with Murder (Level 1 Felony). FWPD Homicide Unit was assisted by FWPD Crime Scene Unit, Air Support Unit, and Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police are investigating the death of a man in a convenience store on the southeast side of the city Tuesday afternoon.

He was found not breathing and without a pulse just before 5 p.m. at the One Stop store on East Creighton Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on his death to contact them.

Date: 02/07/2023 Location: 1232 E. Creighton Ave Time: 4:53PM Details/Summary: On Tuesday, February 7th, around 4:53pm police and fire responded to a person inside the One Stop, 1232 E. Creighton Ave, unconsciousness. Officers arrived and located an adult male not breathing and no pulse, to which EMS was requested. Upon EMS arrival the male was pronounced deceased.
The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Homicide team, Crime Scene Technicians, Allen County Prosecutor’s office, and the Allen County Coroner’s office are investigating this incident. The name of the deceased victim and cause of death will be released by the Coroner’s office.
