DEKALB CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say one person was hurt in a crash involving three vehicles in DeKalb County Friday.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, 29-year-old Samuel Wildman of Columbia City told officers he had gotten off of the I-69 exit for County Road 11A around 1:20 p.m. He said he stopped at the stop sign but proceeded into the roadway.
That is when police believed that 33-year-old Andrew Gent, from Decatur, was traveling southwest on County Road 11A. Police say that when Wildman pulled out he crashed into Gent’s vehicle.
A third vehicle, driven by 48-year-old Rex Cook from Florida, was waiting on County Road 11A to get onto I-69 when the crash happened. Police say Gent’s vehicle traveled slowly and crashed into Cook’s vehicle head-on as a result of the initial crash. Cook’s vehicle had major damage.
Airbags were deployed in both Wildman’s and Gent’s vehicles.
Gent complained of both neck and back pain and was transported from the scene by Parkview EMS for complaints of neck and back pain. Officers determined his car was totaled.
Wildman and Cook were not injured.
