NBC News: Biden eyes Target, Walmart to ease shipping backlog

President Biden is turning to Walmart and Target to help ease the shipping backlog this holiday season. He says the retail giants and others will expand their hours at two California ports to meet delivery needs. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are among the busiest in the country. They’ll now be open 24-seven to unload an estimated 500,000 containers waiting on cargo ships offshore.

There’s a new report detailing how the COVID vaccine saves lives. The bottom line is that around 90-thousand deaths since June could have been prevented had they been vaccinated. That’s according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, which looked at the numbers of people who didn’t get a shot combined with the effects of the more contagious delta variant. The virus was the second-leading cause of death in the nation last month.
